Wigwam Clubs Italy APS

Among the very first environmental associations established in Italy, it aims to promote and support territories’ transition toward equitable development through collaborative partnerships and sustainable approaches. The organization conducts educational programs, training initiatives, communication campaigns, and event coordination.

The first Wigwam Project Club was founded on December 3, 1972, in Brusadure di Bovolenta, Province of Padua (Veneto Region – Italy) by Efrem Tassinato and a small group of friends. Their goal was to demonstrate that agriculture without pesticides would not only be technically feasible but also economically advantageous – and therefore to achieve concrete action in the broader field of environmental education, during a time dominated by often self-referential debates and discussions. Simultaneously (in collaboration with the State Forestry Corps, the then-State Forest Service, and various mountain municipalities and authorities), numerous youth groups were directly involved in reforestation and maintenance of woodlands, parks, and green areas – particularly in the Monte Cesen area (Belluno, 1971), Valvestino (Brescia, 1972), Caoria (Trento, 1973), Castiglione dei Pepoli (Bologna, 1973), and Oropa (Biella, 1974-75). Subsequently, Wigwam’s story continued through experiences implemented across various sectors.
